This policy explains what information the Daytile app handles, where, and why. If you have questions, see the Support page or contact us at the address below.
At a glance
- There is no sign-up or login, and the developer runs no server.
- Your diary photos and notes are stored on your device. The app has no feature that uploads them to the developer’s servers.
- Usage analytics (Firebase Analytics) is off by default and turns on only if you agree. Analytics events never include your photos, notes, or diary dates.
- Daytile has no cloud sync or backup/restore of its own. Deleting the app may delete your entries.
- There are no ads, in-app purchases, or subscriptions.
1. Scope and operator
This policy applies to the Daytile iOS app and to messages you send the developer about Daytile. Daytile is operated by Seungmin Hwang, an independent developer.
- Contact: smhwang0715@gmail.com
2. Data processed on your device, and why
To provide its diary features, Daytile stores the following on your device:
- In-app copies of diary photos: to show the photos you add to a day and to build calendar images.
- Notes (up to 100 characters) and entry dates: to show, edit, and delete your entries by date.
- Collage layout, cover photo, and photo zoom/position settings: to keep each day looking the way you arranged it.
- Photo identifiers and capture times (when available): for app features such as detecting duplicate photos and sorting. This happens on your device.
- App settings and your analytics choice: to remember choices such as reminder settings and whether you agreed to share usage data.
Daytile has no feature that uploads your photos or notes to the developer’s servers. However, some information can leave your device through iOS or other services, as described below:
- iOS device backups: If you use iCloud Backup or back up your iPhone to a computer, app data may be included in those backups according to Apple’s policies and behavior. This is not a Daytile sync or backup feature.
- iCloud Photos: If you use iCloud Photos, the originals in your photo library are managed by Apple’s service (see section 3).
- Optional usage analytics: Only if you agree, the information in section 4 is sent to Google.
- Images you choose to share: See section 5.
3. Photo and notification permissions, and your choices
Daytile asks for permissions only for the purposes below. Whether to allow them is up to you, and you can change them anytime in iPhone Settings (see the Support page for how).
- Read photos: to show photos taken on a selected date and bring them into your diary.
- With “Limited Access,” only the photos you pick are visible to the app.
- Even without full library access, you can pick photos with the system photo picker.
- If a photo you pick is stored only in iCloud, it may need to be downloaded through Apple’s Photos features.
- Add photos: to save monthly calendar images you create to your photo library.
- Notifications: to schedule, on your device, the daily reminder you turn on. Reminders never include your photos or notes.
Daytile currently has no feature that asks for camera, microphone, contacts, or location access.
4. Optional usage analytics (Firebase Analytics) and third-party processing
To improve the app, Daytile uses Firebase Analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase), provided by Google.
When is it on? Analytics is off by default. The analytics SDK is initialized and collection is turned on only if you agree to share usage data. You can turn it off anytime in the app’s Settings by turning off “Share usage information.”
Events the app logs
- Starting and saving an entry
- Number of photos selected
- Changing the collage layout or cover photo
- Starting and finishing an image export, and saving to the photo library
- Predefined error types
Information the app never puts in analytics events Photos, notes, photo identifiers, file names or paths, location metadata, diary dates, entry IDs, and raw error messages are not included in the app’s analytics events.
Information the Firebase SDK may process on its own When analytics is on, the Firebase SDK may separately process technical information about the app, device, and session, along with identifiers such as an app instance ID. For this reason, analytics data cannot be described as completely anonymous.
Advertising and tracking settings
- Consent for ad storage, ad user data, and ad personalization is set to “denied.”
- Collection of the IDFV (Identifier for Vendor) and automatic screen reporting are turned off.
- Daytile shows no ads.
Processing by Google Analytics data is processed by Google. How long it is kept on Google’s servers, where it is processed, and how it is deleted depend on Google’s policies and the developer’s Firebase settings. For details, see Firebase’s Privacy and Security information.
- Analytics data retention: User-level and event-level data is kept for 2 months and then deleted by Google. Aggregated reports are not subject to this period.
- Processing locations and international transfers: Analytics data may be processed and stored on Google servers outside your country of residence, including in the United States. The recipient is Google LLC, the purpose is analyzing app usage, and data in transit is encrypted (HTTPS/TLS). If you don’t want this transfer, leave usage sharing off or turn it off.
5. Sharing images at your request
When you use the share feature, the monthly calendar image you exported (a 2400×2400 JPEG) is sent to the app or service you pick in the iOS share sheet. The developer does not receive this image, and what happens afterward is governed by that app’s or service’s policies. The image may show the photos and notes you put on the calendar, so please check it before sharing.
6. Retention, deletion, and the limits of recovery
- Retention: Your entries and in-app photo copies stay on your device until you delete them or delete the app.
- Relationship to your original photos: Deleting an original from your photo library does not remove the copy already saved in Daytile or the diary entry.
- Deleting an entry: Deleting an entry in Daytile deletes that entry and its in-app photo copies. The originals in your photo library are not deleted.
- No undo: There is no trash or recovery feature for deleted entries.
- Deleting the app: Deleting the app may delete the entries stored on your device. Because the developer does not keep your entries on a server, they cannot be restored for you.
- Monthly images are not backups: Exported calendar images are pictures for viewing and sharing. They are not backup files and cannot be loaded back into the diary.
7. Withdrawing analytics consent, and privacy questions
Withdrawing consent When you turn off “Share usage information” in the app’s Settings, analytics collection stops from then on and the SDK’s analytics data on your device is reset. Data already sent to Google is not automatically deleted. For requests about data that has already been sent, please contact us at the address below.
How to contact us Send privacy questions or requests to smhwang0715@gmail.com.
Information handled when you email us Emails you send are separate from the data the app handles automatically. Your email address, your name (if you include it), your message, and any attachments are used to reply to you. You never need to send passwords or personal photos, and if you attach screenshots, please hide anything sensitive first.
- How long messages are kept: Kept for 1 year after your inquiry is resolved, then deleted.
8. Changes and effective date
If the app’s features or data handling change, we will update this policy and the last updated date on this page.
- Effective date: October 27, 2026
