About CiviCents
CiviCents is a voter guide for the November 3, 2026 U.S. general election. It shows U.S. House and Senate candidate lists and statewide ballot measures, each with links to its official sources. For California, it also explains how each of the 14 statewide propositions could affect everyday life, paraphrases the arguments for and against them, and compares House candidates by topic, with selected official votes. CiviCents does not recommend a party, a candidate, or how to vote. It also includes a receipt tool that records sales tax on your device.
Supported states: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.
Not real time: CiviCents shows a reviewed snapshot of official sources, not a live feed. Each ballot measure and candidate screen shows the date its sources were last reviewed. Official sources may have changed since then, so check the linked original when it matters.
FAQ
My district doesn’t show up.
A ZIP code can overlap more than one House district. When yours does, CiviCents asks you to pick one. If you aren’t sure which is yours, look up your address or current location in the app, or check with your county elections office. You can change your district later in Settings.
If you live outside the 13 states above, CiviCents doesn’t have your candidate lists. You can find your state’s election office at vote.gov.
Are my location or address saved?
No. Your current location is read once, when you ask for it, and your district is worked out on your device. Only the district number is saved. If you type an address, it is sent to Apple’s geocoding service to get coordinates, and is cleared afterward. See the Privacy Policy.
Can I back up or move my bookmarks and receipts?
No. They are stored only on this device. CiviCents has no account, sync, or export, so the developer can’t move or restore them for you. Saved receipts are excluded from iCloud Backup. Deleting the app removes everything.
Does it work offline?
Yes, for reading. The content included in the app is available offline, and the most recent downloaded update is kept for offline use. Opening official source links, getting content updates, and looking up an address need an internet connection.
Why don’t some candidates have a topic comparison?
Comparisons appear only where reviewed sources are available. “No statement found” means we found nothing in the sources we reviewed. It does not mean the candidate opposes the issue, and a missing vote record is not a “no” vote.
Where do election results come from? Does the app call races?
CiviCents shows results only as published by official sources. The app does not project winners or call races.

Report a Content Error
If something in CiviCents is wrong, please email smhwang0715@gmail.com with the subject “CiviCents Correction.” There is no web form: a form would need a server to store what you send, and CiviCents does not collect personal information.
What you can report
- A wrong or missing name in a candidate list
- A campaign position summary that misrepresents the source
- An incorrect vote record
- An incorrect explanation or number for a ballot measure
- A broken source link
- A wrong election date or deadline
Please include
- The state, and the district or ballot measure number
- The sentence as it appears on screen
- A link to an official primary source that shows the correct information
- If you represent a candidate or campaign, a way to confirm that (for example, an email address on the campaign’s official domain)
How requests are handled
- If an official source confirms the error, we correct it and update the review date.
- If the information can’t be confirmed, we may hold back or hide that item until it can be.
- Differences of opinion and requests to take a political position are not corrections.
- Content can be updated without an app update.
We aim to review correction requests within 3 business days. From October 27 through November 3, 2026, we aim to review them within 24 hours.
